Granville Health System Foundation Thanks Community for the Success of the 2024 Gala

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

OXFORD, NC – December 3, 2024 – The Granville Health System Foundation is thrilled to announce the resounding success of the 2024 Foundation Gala, held on November 23rd at Henderson Country Club. The event brought together community members, healthcare professionals, and sponsors for an evening of celebration, philanthropy, and unity, all in support of advancing healthcare in Granville County.

 

This year’s Gala raised over $135,000, which will be directed to upgrading our Labor & Delivery waiting area and kicking off the Gary Bowman Departmental Grants, helping us continue our mission of delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our community.

Senior Center Hosting Event Featuring Locally Written Children's Books


GRANVILLE COUNTY SENIOR SERVICES: On Wednesday, December 11 at 1:30 p.m., the Creative Lifelong Learning program will feature local authors and illustrators for a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and interactive storytelling. The program will be held at the Granville County Senior Center located at 107 Lanier
Street, Oxford. Local author Kathy Paine, creator of Diversity Trail and professional storyteller Claire Ramsey will perform excerpts from Big Rat with a Big Heart by Jessie Luo, Goodnight Pond by Mickey Lea, and several books by Cameron Pendergraft.


“The featured books are more than just bedtime stories,” said Creative Lifelong Learning Coordinator Russ Barberio. “These works are thoughtful tools designed to teach children how to navigate the world with empathy, confidence, and understanding. They provide a wonderful opportunity for parents and grandparents to connect with their little ones, fostering understanding and shared values through the art of storytelling.”

• Diversity Trail by Kathy Paine - Teaches the concept of diversity, fostering understanding and acceptance of different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.


• Big Rat with a Big Heart by Jessie Luo - A story that focuses on the importance of not judging others based on appearances and highlights the value of kindness and understanding.


• Goodnight Pond by Mickey Lea (Illustrated by Jessie Luo) – A story about the importance of establishing calming bedtime rituals that connect children with their bodies and surroundings, easing them into restful sleep.


• The works of Cameron Pendergraft – Author of several books that predominantly explore themes of companionship, resilience, and the human-animal bond.
